hi, been reading your blog a lot and have some questions for you regarding front suspension VS jones/rigid/Plus. I have a jones plus. i see you ride both types of front end.

Hi
I have been following your blog for awhile now and thoroughly enjoy it.
I have a copy of1991 Exploring Scottish Hill Tracks by Ralph Storer. A sharp onset of old age means that I will never refer to it. Is it any use to you or anybody you may know? If so, I’d be happy to send it to you as a gift.
Let me know.
Regards

Hi Jon,
I’ve followed your blog for sometime now and always found it an interesting and informative read.
Your new drjonbagworks project looks like a winner too, the dewidgit is particularly interesting, being as far as I know unique, rather than your take on an existing product.
I was wondering if you have any plans to produce an out front mount for the Garmin Etrex?
I know you did a blog post about this a while back, but to be honest I wasn’t able to correctly identify the parts in question from your links.
Yours Hopefully,

Phil Tomlinson

hey Phil, thanks for the kind words! the ‘out front’ erred mount I made had a custom aluminium Gopro part made by Pacifier – http://www.pacifier.com/~kevinb/index.html he made the part a custom length and I drilled it to accept the Japanese Rec mounts part. I wouldn’t use the Rec part now – id use a 1/4 turn adaptor and any out front 1/4 turn mount – https://www.shapeways.com/product/XF3QSGQSY/garmin-gps-etrex-to-edge-mount-converter?option=65181415&etId=189646663&utm_source=automated-contact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=payment-received&utm_content=3 – I’m hoping to have a 1/4 turn DeWidget top cap adaptor soon for either Garmin or wahoo….few details to work out.

Hi Jon, love the site. And you have an EVT. jealous, much.

I’ve grabbed a few of the Double Triples from Andy to mount on my Sonder Camino fork – https://twitter.com/tweetymike/status/1298937278744723456?s=21

Assuming the straps go around the back, any issues you see?

Cheers

Mike

with heavier loads thats a good idea, but lighter loads just through the deck is great too. id consider >2kg about the amount where you’d think you want to think avbout straps around the leg too, if all three bolts used. can i share your pic? thanks for buying and hope they are good for you!

There’s only two bolts, so I think I’ll always wrap around as it’s really no difference. Yes sure you can use the snaps – please give perthshiregravel.com a nudge where possible 😬👍🏻

will do – and thanks again. is the spacing on the fork for lowrider racks? i have a proto deck that trek were involved with me developing that is designed to specifically fit that set up? it was one of the insiprations for the DTT – though its a wee bit different?

Sonder say they are for ‘mudguards or racks’ but were hesitant to give me a weight limit. And the spacing is defo not three-mount standard.

Also, I’m keen to discuss a cool product idea, that carbon-fork-owners missing mounts will LOVE.
